USEPA Lowers Ozone Emissions Standard

By Ryan Elliott

On October 1, 2015, U.S EPA issued a final rule lowering the national ozone emissions standard from 75 parts per billion (ppb) to 70 parts per billion. This more stringent standard will require states to submit compliance plans to U.S. EPA that could significantly impact industry operations across the country.  Based on monitored air quality data from 2012-2014, 241 counties do not meet the new 70 ppb standard.  Click here for a map of counties measuring ozone above the 70 ppb standard.

The final rule will be effective 60 days after the official version of the rule is published in the Federal Register.
