EIA: State Energy Profiles

By Greg Russell

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) publishes individual state energy profiles that you might find of interest.  For example, regarding Ohio (see here):  "Although crude oil production in the state is only about 5 million barrels annually, Ohio has the second-highest oil refining capacity in the upper Midwest after Illinois. With a capacity of 530,000 barrels of crude oil per calendar day, Ohio is consistently among the top 10 refining states in the nation. Ohio's four refineries include two in the Toledo area, one in Lima, and one in Canton. Collectively, those refineries process a wide suite of crude oils from light, sweet crudes to heavy, sour ones. The crude oils come from Canada, the Mid-Continent, North Dakota, and the U.S. Gulf Coast, as well as from outside of North America."

There's a lot of good background data if you are looking for it.
